Once an approved consolidation strategy is in place, the Project will provide assistance to improve the teaching and learning environment in schools. This will include (i) rehabilitation and upgrading of training workshops of up to 20 selected PVSs, (ii) rehabilitation of up to 20 dormitories, and (iii) provision of training equipment for basic priority skill areas14 that offer the best employment prospects for students. The Project will also provide 14 mobile training units to service remote rural areas.
Repair – and - renewal priorities include:
(I) Provision with the heating system which will meet requirements, and heat insulation; (II) Repair of a roof;
(III) Repair of bathroom units;
(IV) Repair of the damaged walls and ceilings;
(V) Replacement of the broken doors, windows and floors.
For improvement of access of pupils with the limited physical opportunities, repair - and - renewal works of objects will be carried out in view of needs of the wheelchair-bound pupils. Meant for invalids, furniture, equipment and improved bathroom units will be provided. To improve conditions of training, the project will provide each rehabilitated workshop with all the necessary training materials. Managements of educational institutions and representatives of local community will be involved in planning of repair - and - renewal works, and they will keep an eye to provide repair – and - renewal works are carried out by contractors according to the list of the works designated in the contract.
